Stained Glass Workshop Descriptions

 

Advanced Mosaic

Learn to incorporate bold and dimensional grout lines into your mosaic work. All materials included except mosaic glue and glass. Bring to class: wheeled mosaic cutter, glass cutter, and silver Sharpie marker. You may bring opaque glass or purchase glass the night of the class. You will need to purchase mosaic glue at the first class.

 

All About Bevels

Create 2 sun catchers using bevels.  One project will use dichroic bevels.  No cutting experience required.  Bevels will be provided.  Soldering experience required.  Bring your soldering iron supplies and silver-back foil.

 

Basically Bevels

Ever wonder how to work with bevels?  Now’s your chance to learn how to create an all bevel panel approximately 10 ½” x 12 ½”.  Fee includes all bevels needed for panel.  Bring foil, solder, & soldering equipment.

 

Beginner Lamp Class

Expand your stained glass knowledge from 2-D to 3-D.  Create a stunning, yet easy panel lamp in this class.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.  Bring your stained glass tools and work board to class.

 

Beginner Lead Came Panel

Learn the traditional lead came technique for making stained glass panels.  You may select the pattern for your panel from 4 patterns that will be made available in class.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.  Bring your stained glass tools and work board to class.

 

Beveled Star

Create a 12” 3-D Beveled Star.  Bevels & Curly Q Hangers Included.  Bring to class: 1/4” Silverback Foil, soldering iron, flux & solder.

 

Celtic Knot

Create this stunning stained glass Celtic knot suncatcher.  Finished size is approximately 8 ½” x 8 ½”.  Must purchase glass for your project at our Studio.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.  Bring your stained glass tools and work board to class.

 

Come Unhinged Box

This beautiful box showcases real pressed flowers in the center of the lid.  Learn how to construct a box without using hinges.  Learn decorative soldering techniques to embellish the lid of the box.

 

Dichroic Bevel Star

Create this beautiful suncatcher using dichroic bevels.  All materials provided except solder and flux.  Bring your soldering equipment to class.

 

Dragonfly Pendant

Create a dazzling dragonfly using Swarovski crystals and seed beads while learning

right angle weaving.  Bring to class: Ruler, reading or magnifying glasses and an Ott Light, if you own one.

 

Peyote Tubes for Dragonfly Pendant

Learn to make “tube beads” using the peyote stitch and seed beads.  You will first practice using size 8 seed beads and then make a “tube bead” using size 11 seed beads for your dragonfly pendant necklace.

 

Silver Solder Charm Design Class

Create your own photo charms, vintage ephemera, or nature scenes under glass to wear on a necklace or a bracelet as a one of a kind piece!  This class will teach you how to make single and 3-D charms from beginning to end.  Taught by Lynne Suprock

 

String Necklace for Dragonfly Pendant

Using Swarovski crystals, silver findings, seed beads, and the “tube beads” and Dragonfly Pendant you created in the previous classes, you will finish your stunning Dragonfly Pendant Necklace.

 

Kaleidoscope Class

Create a one of a kind kaleidoscope that provides vibrant, stunning images when viewed.  Axle pack and mirror provided.   Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.  Bring your stained glass tools to class.

 

Lead Came Suncatchers

This class teaches the basics of constructing lead came suncatchers.  In this class you will learn how to prepare lead came, overlay glass for a 3-D effect, use wire for embellishments, and how to twist wire and lead.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.  Bring your stained glass tools, work board, and scrap pieces of glass to class.  We will provide the lead came and wire for 3 suncatchers. Must have a soldering iron with a rheostat.

 

Making Something Out of Nothing

Get your creative juices flowing and learn how to custom-design your own panel using your leftover glass!  Bring your scrap glass & Bonnie will guide you in how to look at a piece of glass & see its true design potential.  Learn how to design to avoid structural instability.

 

“Memories” Garden Sculpture

Add a burst of color to your Spring landscape.  Use your scrap glass from previous projects to create this stunning 5 foot sculpture.  As you foil your glass, you can relive the memories of past projects.  All you need to bring is solder, soldering equipment & pre-foiled scrap glass.  We will supply everything else.  The pieces need to be foiled with silver foil which you will receive when you register and pre-pay your tuition.  Due to the size of this project, we are offering 2 separate sessions on the same day.  Sign up early to reserve your place in class.

 

Mosaic Mirror

Learn the traditional mosaic technique.  10” square project.  Choice of 1 of 3 patterns or create your own.  All materials included.  If you have a specific glass you wish to use, bring it to class.  If you own a silver sharpie marker & mosaic cutters, please bring to class.

 

Pot Melt Box Class

Create this intriguing box using fused glass and stained glass techniques.  You will learn how to make a “pot melt” using fusing glass and then incorporate the pot melt into the lid of the box.  Bring your stained glass tools.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Renaissance Mosaic

This workshop focuses on a different way to create mosaics using Glam Glass , millefiori, and miscellaneous treasures, BUT NO GROUT.  Bring to class any jewelry, photos or found objects that you want to incorporate into your project. You will also need your glass cutter and pliers.

We will have Glam Glass, jewelry we have collected for this class and millefiori for sale.

 

Return Me to the Sea

Freeform swirling glass with shells and nuggets in a 10” round panel.  Also learn decorative soldering techniques.  Shell, glass, & black iron half round stand included.  Bring your stained glass tools and work board to class.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Shell Box Class

Create a jewelry box with a real chambered nautilus shell incorporated into the lid.  Box dimensions are approximately 6.5” x 7.5”.  Shell and hinge provided.  Bring your stained glass tools and work board.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Solder Workshop

If your soldering skills need some help, this is the class for you.  You will learn to recognize & correct typical problems that occur during soldering.  We will touch on decorative soldering techniques.  Bring at least 8 foiled pieces of glass approximately 1 ½” x 8”.  Bring your soldering iron, solder, flux, & brush that you normally use so we can troubleshoot any equipment problems.

 

Sparkling Sea

Combine beautiful seashells and bevels to create your own “Sparkling Sea” panel.  Bring your stained glass tools and work board.  Shell and bevels included.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Stained Glass Lamp Class

Create a beautiful stained glass lamp with a pattern of your choice.  Learn how to work three dimensional.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Stained Glass Spider Web

Create your own spooky spider web in this class.  Learn how to create a freeform design that is structurally sound.  We will provide a variety of glass to incorporate into your web.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Sunset at Sea

Bonnie’s back & ready to crank up the beach tunes for a fun workshop.  Bring your scrap glass in your favorite color combinations. We will supply the shells & the know-how.

You’ll learn decorative soldering & how to build a structurally sound candle box large enough to hold a 4” diameter jar candle.  Bring silver-back foil & soldering equipment. Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Table Lantern

Learn to use the Beetle Bits system to create a Prairie style lantern.  Change the glass colors for a more contemporary look.  You will learn some basic wiring techniques to electrify your lantern.  Glass & supplies for lantern must be purchased at our studio.  Students need to bring cutting & soldering tools, Morton layout system, and small work board.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Tempered Mosaic

Learn an unorthodox mosaic technique which combines painting and mosaic.  All materials including frame provided.  Bring a picture to fit an 8” x 10” area.

 

Treasure-scope

Use bevels to create your own treasure-scope filled with sand, shells and other beach memorabilia.  Bring any small treasures you would like to include.  Bevels, sand and shells are included.  Soldering experience required.  Bring your soldering supplies and 7/32” silver-back foil.  Gel Flux recommended.

 

Victorian Christmas Ornaments

Create 4 beautiful, quick & easy Christmas ornaments using Victorian artwork.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.  Some supplies included.   Bring to class: 7/32” silver back foil, soldering iron, solder, flux, 18 gauge wire, wire-forming tools (if you have them), and any embellishments you would like to use on your ornaments.

 

Water Lily Box Class

Learn how to make this exquisite glass box with a 3-D water lily for a lid.  All materials included.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Wild at Heart

Join in & get WILD in this quick workshop, just in time for Valentine’s Day.  In just 90 minutes you will complete this WILD & whimsical heart. Some materials included.  Bring to class your favorite piece of glass (3” x 6”), beads with holds big enough to string on 18 gauge wire, cutting tools, lead nippers, solder, flux, and soldering equipment.  Pre-requisite: Beginner Stained Glass.

 

Window Design Class

Design a window to fit your area.  Start with a photo or a design in a book.  Learn how to scale the drawing and enlarge to fit your window.
